Hello again

Been a while, as usual.  I keep saying I'm going to keep this thing more current...

It's my first day off from new job.  I started on Wednesday of this week.  I think it's going to work out.  I'm making almost as much as I was back at Quiznos and it seems like a good place to work.  My co-workers and bosses all seem nice and the work isn't too hard.  I do need to work on my salesmanship since selling assurance plans is something our store is apparently graded on.  But I can do that I think.

It is a huge relief to be working, and even though I am going to be financially tight I am at least going to be able to get my bills paid.  Perhaps not all on time, but paid none the less.

A week goes by

So, not quite a full week since my last update, but what is going on you ask?  Well gentle reader, I spent time with my soulmate here in the new apartment and it was wonderful.  I went to show her SimCity Societies and she loved it, we ended up playing together and having lots of fun.

We also went shopping and stocked up my kitchen with good healthy foodstuffs.

I have a job interview at Office Max Monday afternoon at 1:30pm.  This is good, as I need money to pay rent and bills and buy food.

Been playing a lot of SimCity and not writing.  I hope to get caught up over the weekend.  We'll see if that pans out or not.

And I think I shall use my theater gift certificate to go see Death Race... a remake of an old cheesy action/sci-fi flick I enjoyed.  Most likely going to go tomorrow before D&D.

So, bad news and good news...

Wow... So I have not updated this in a while.  There is no more online GM job for me.  I was still within my 90 days, so along with a dozen other souls I was let go due to a decline in the number of subscribers and thus the number of petitions needing to be answered.  This was a week and half ago...

A friend who works at EA got my resume and forwarded it over to Mythic to see about getting me in for Warhammer Online.  That was friday before last and I have heard no word back yet.

Friend Alex works at Office Max and they are in need and not far from the new apartment.  I have filled out an online application and submitted it, this was yesterday.  I have recieved an email confirming that it was recieved from their HR department.

Mythic would be the better job, paying more and doing something I discovered that I really did enjoy.  I'd have to move, which would mean losing the new apartment I just moved into.  It would mean security deposits being forfeted and all of the hassles of moving.  But it would put me an hour and half from my lover rather than five hours, which would be wonderful.

If it does not happen, I do have Office Max which will pay the bills and not suck too much from what I'm told.  I get to skip another move right away.  I'll be able to run the Exaulted game I had started to plan before losing my Funcom job.  I will still be an hour's drive from my family and have friends in the area.  So, all in all, while not the preferred choice, it's not without a few bright points.

I think it's clear what I'm hoping for, and despite putting in an application I do hope to hear back from Mythic.  The abscence of evidence is not evidence of abscence after all... or to be less obtuse, no answer is not a no for an answer.  So I do still hope they make me an offer, but I've waited a week and need to move forward with plan B in case at this point to make sure to avoid not having money for my bills when they come due next month.

So, disappointing but I move forward.

And I will be seeing my love after missing our usual monthly night together last month.  And it will be a longer visit, until Wednesday morning.  I am so excited and happy.

Random Update

Tis time for another random update!

Twas a slow night/morning at work and as we found ourselves short on players needing help what did we do...  We went gold spammer hunting.  If you've played a MMORPG you known what they look like, and ours are sneaky (in ways I most likely should not post in public about as I think on it, but trust me... sneaky fucking bastards)

So we just went hunting for 1st to 5th level characters with gribberish names and started dropping the ban hammer...

When the dust settled, 305 less gold spammer accounts existed.

And on a totally unrelated note, I'm moving on the 20th of this month and would love some help from anyone wiling to do so!

I won a prize!

So, my workplace divides us into teams.  Graveyard for instance is three teams, I believe the other two shifts are both four and then we have a couple of special teams (such as the fraud team and the offline team that handles e-mail customer support).

Today I received a pair of $10 theater gift certificates because Team Ram Rod (yes, the teams have names and that's ours) was the top performing team on third shift and the third highest team out of all twelve.  I'm feeling pretty pleased I confess.

And now I slip into the extra comfy AC/DC sleeping pants and prepare to curl up and snooze once the tea finishes relaxing me.

What am I doing these days?

I'm not sure what's worse, the fact that I've let this go without an update in over two weeks or the lack of things to report...

Job is still grand.  I mean, I'm an online GM.  That's just awesome and cool and I love it.  Had a few things transpire... a coworker let go for inappropriate behaviour.  Another for just being slack.  Thankfully it seems the development team has been making an effort to test the patches more completely which is good.  The past couple of patch days were not disaster filled.

I've been playing a bit of the game.  I enjoy it and I like having a better idea of how things are supposed to work.  Though it does make me shake my head at some of the reactions to things now that I've been there and seen them.  I mean, I've now done quests that people complained were impossible and broken because they couldn't do them and found myself scratching my head and being like WTF M8?  That wasn't hard or confusing at all.  But That's when i remember that as much as i do like my job, it is customer support and that means dealing with the dregs of the public.  After all, clever folks don't petition in with dumb questions they just keep winning and pwning noobs or whatnaught.

So... working... and um... what else?

I saw a couple of movies, enjoyed both Hellboy II and The Dark Knight quite a bit.

I'm in a 4th edition D&D game every other Saturday and a New World of Darkness Vampire LARP the other Saturdays...

I'm still writing on Elliquiy and Odyssey...

Yet somehow, I've just managed to not find the time to keep up with the people I care about.  And I haven't seen my lover in much too long now...

*shrugs*  Not sure what I'm trying to say, just an observation I guess...

Ok, so what the heck is going on around here?

For those with some interest in my situation who I have neglected to keep up to date:

The new job continues to be awesome.

After some issues, I have found an apartment (pending credit and background checks)

I'll be moving on the 20th of next month, sadly later than I would like and prompting some pro-rated month-to-month rate rent from the current temporary locale.

Victory!

I just got back from a job interview and I claim victory!!

That's right, time to say screw you Quiznos and hello Funcom.

I mean, it's got FUN in it's name, does it get better?  I'm leaving responsibility without the authority to actually do anything behind and moving up.  I'll be fixing problems.  I like fixing problems.

What's going on?

So... I'm awake far to early today.  And I find my LJ overdue for some sort of update.

  • Still have not seen Indiana Jones movie.
  • Still do not like my job.
  • ConCarolinas was great fun.  Met some good people and played some awesome games.
  • Still overly fond of bulleted lists

After a long conversation with my brother, I am planning some new creative projects...  Details will be forthcoming soon.

Random Update

I haven't posted an entry in about two weeks... not cool of me.

So, what's going on?  Here's some bullet point lists!

Work:
  • John remains a tool, but has at least been keeping the store  mostly stocked with key items.
  • This $5 sub deal of ours to compete with Subway has, in fact, done it's job and made the store rather busy.
  • Yesterday was a landmark of sorts, as for the first time in my life I fired someone.  He deserved it and it was overdue.  I do not feel bad.  I only hope John really does back me on this like he claimed earlier today he would and doesn't decide to override my decision and give this jerkoff another chance.

Recreation:
  • Saw Iron Man in the theater - loved it!
  • Saw Transformers on DVD - too many humans, not enough giant robots fighting.  But a fairly entertaining action movie.
  • Plan to see new Indy movie soon - I've heard good things about it.
  • I'm going to ConCarolinas next weekend.  Pretty much my first real con, I am excited.

My Boss is a Fucking Tool

So, yesterday was a massive clusterfuck at work.  Why?  Because we were fucking out of everything before the weekly delivery came in yesterday morning and so we had to run around prepping things that should have been done Tuesday and weren't because the food was not there to prep.

My Boss won't let anyone else do the ordering.  He fucks it up all the time, but will not let anyone else handle it.

So thanks to his incompetance, yesterday was beyond hectic.  And after lunch, everyone started finishing up and catching up on things...  I got busy and did not write the daily list of prepwork...  I admit, this is my bad.  But after I left, they apparently did NOTHING and then I get called this morning about it.

Why?  Not because my Boss actually gives a fuck that shit wasn't done but because the opening shift called him and he had "Drop what he was doing and go in to help them"  and who's fault is it that the closing shift did nothing last night?  Mine for not leaving them a god-dammed list.

I fucking hate my Boss right now.

Bold new look! Same great taste!

So I have made a new Live Journal look for me.

I have also added new user pics...

Me with a sword, taken in a night of silly fun quite a while ago.

And me with my tank hat, acquired to celebrate the Tank Museum's Military Expo and worn in a silly manner just last night.

The things I do when I'm awake too early, eh?

Oh, and one last thing...

here's a llama
there's a llama
and another little llama
fuzzy llama
funny llama
llama llama
duck

llama llama
cheesecake
llama
tablet
brick
potato
llama
llama llama
mushroom
llama
llama llama
duck

i was once a treehouse
i lived in a cake
but i never saw the way
the orange slayed the rake
i was only three years dead
but it told a tale
and now listen, little child
to the safety rail

did you ever see a llama
kiss a llama
on the llama
llama's llama
tastes of llama
llama llama
duck

half a llama
twice the llama
not a llama
farmer
llama
llama in a car
alarm a llama
llama
duck

is THIS how it's told now?
is it all so old?
is it made of lemon juice?
doorknob
ankle
cold
now my song is getting thin
i've run out of luck
time for me to retire now
and become a duck

This one is for you.... And you know who you are.

Exercise

Rode 3.6 miles on the stationary bike today.  Rode on easy just to clear my head and try to relax before work.

Didn't ride yesterday.

Friday's distance was 5.6 miles, used an interval resistance  program on the bike, was difficult but liked it.  Should use it more often.

Two good things

First off, I return from going to see Jonathon Coulton. It was a grand adventure indeed. Despite some wrong turns and traffic we did arrive before the show, though not early enough to get good tables. To find a place among the sold out crowd, we divided into two smaller teams. Brian, Zach, and Matt shred a large table with some other folks while Bobbi and I snagged the last table for two off in the corner. The sound at the Birchmere is awesome, even over in the 'bad seats' we could hear beautifully even if we were watching from off to the side and slightly behind with some equipment blocking part of the stage from view. The food was expensive, but very tasty.

Paul and Storm were hilarious and the crowd was enthusiastic and fun to be part of. They ran through a nice collection of songs and had both Bobbi and I laughing the whole time. Then there was a brief intermission and JoCo hit the stage.

A few minutes in our waiter (who was very cool) came over and told us one of his reserved tables hadn't showed and asked us if we'd like to be moved. The new table was amazing, right in the middle and with a super comfy couch-like bench seat we got to snuggle up on and see the rest of the show from. And for a good part of it, Paul and Storm were back out to sing back up and play tambourine and shaker. The easy fun chemistry between them was great, and it made the show even more awesome. In particular, during 'Soft Rocked' there was a wild improvisational breakdown that ended up wandering through 5 or 6 other soft rock classics before getting back to the final verse. It was just fun. The crowd was laughing and enjoying themselves the whole time and up on stage Jonathan and Paul and Storm all really seemed to be having a lot of fun with the whole show which just made it great.

After all was sung and done, we got to meet the performers briefly at the singing table and I have pictures of myself with all of them in lieu of autographs (as I didn't end up buying swag as all the shirts bigger than medium were sold out before I got to them)

The drive back was quiet and towards the end kinda hazy and drowsy but all returned alive and well.

And the other good thing? While looking at my friends page before posting, I found a link to this internet quiz which tells me I am awesome... in bed.
